Samba and WinNT-Network on the Root of NetworkFS/Plugin

Post by *blacky »

let'z dance the Samba, if you want !

Hi Peoples :),

an suggestion for the next release/version

! Very Hight

Theme: Samba and the WinNT-Network FS directly on the Root of
NetworkFS/Plugins.

Bad :
  • Some Windows NT Installations have the problem ,
they need very much time for search Network drives and
if you have different FS Plugins installed and want use it,
do on same time by listing of the FS-plugins
the WinNT network search on the networks for network folders.
cure/rectification:
  • move the whole SMB/Winnt Networking in an own Pluginfolder,
as example /smb-Drives and let search, if the user goes in
this "plugin" Directory inside of the FS-Plugin/Network for have
    an clean and troubleless fs-plugin-listing
I'm already since some time around this problem,
it's whant be nice, if move the whole WinNT/SMB - networks history
in an own folder for working with other plugins undisturbed .

best regards

Just put the plugins on buttons (via drag&drop) or add them to the Ctrl+D menu. Btw, the network scanning is done in a background thread now, and shouldn't affect plugin usage.

Hi Chrisitian :)

oh well, it works like you told me :)
but the networks scan, it anyway hangs an bit the system (there W7)
it's may not bad, if create an folder names maybe /Samba/
or /Network/ , like we have spoken about in the past(ehh before 10/15 years or something..),
who it is maybe better to move it in an own folder, because, then touch/abut the user not more the
"algoryghm" for search in the network .. and can selecting really fast the plugins what he want..
and in the background don't put on the networkscan anymore ..
and encounters no longer on the network scan / no longer triggers
the network scan .. you see..
