MRT: Append character on rename collision

Post by *Lare2 »

I love the batch rename feature of TC and use it regularly. Is there a way to make the program append an increment number on naming collisions.

I'm having the same problem explained on the following post http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=41345&highlight=rename+collision .

Is there any way to achieve this

Here is a crude work-around that you could try until you get a better answer:
. Using the multi-rename tool (MRT), append a unique string and counter to each filename.
. Using the MRT, attempt to rename as you wanted, while simultaneously removing the unique string and counter from each filename.
. Search for files whose names still include the unique string.
. Using the MRT, rename each found file, while retaining the counter.
