Suggestion for v9

Post by *sekular »

I think it would be good to incorporate some of the popular and useful plugins directly in to the program.

F4 Menu. It is a tiny .exe that uses a ini file to specify different edit functions for different file types. so when using f4 on text file it opens notepad++ when using it on an image file it opens photoshop. the existing f4 functionality could be expanded to work with a ini file like that.

Update default menu language to include the modifications done by other people. So that it includes, Filter, Mark, View, Tabs, FTP, Network, Preferences, with improvements on File and removal of edit. Basically a lot of functionality exists in total commander that is not completely represented in the default menu options. The filter and Mark menu options are very useful. I am not sure on the name of the updated language files as i have since modified them completely and replaced the original files. You can download my language files, i used someone else language files and only removed and added a few things. https://mega.nz/#!1cNiwTYL!m1pSiryRnxtbkQQosDdm-jJ6tWtS-QSNLJ5SllwX2cI

Update the plugin manager so it looks something like that TC Plugins Manager 2.2.7. So that you can see them all in one go and manage them etc.

Update the default config so that it uses colour and remove the button bar and command line. It makes the interface less cluttered and is probably more in line with what people end up using. Example: http://i.imgur.com/QxG4Jtu.jpg This enables all the line options.

People can always change it how they want anyway. I would like to see ghisler config, does he use the default one? I imagine it is quite customized, why not make that the default config?

I would like to see extended menus in TC.
There's so many options not shown in menus, and, I guess, unnoticed by new users.

These are already available.
Just install Petermad's Extended English Menus for Total Commander

I have my own extended menu based on Petermad's.
But there’s people which don’t know about Petermad, there’s people which aren’t members of this forum, so there’s lot of people which don’t know that TC can do more then what is shown in standard menu.
