reassign hot key

Post by *captjlddavis »

Good day to all,

Relative newbie so please be patient.
Is it possible to re-assign the F2 key to save file when in lister.
(this was a hotkey from the old norton commander)
If this is an existing feature please point me to the desired information.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Lister is a file viewer. You are talking about editing ? (What is it you want to save ?)

What editor do you use ?
(I use vim and have mapped F2 to save :D )

There is no built in editor. The default editor i notepad.exe.
It is possible, but not recomended, to hack notepad to save with F2.
You could probably obtain your goal with Resource Hacker:

Why not use a different editor? TC just calls notepad because it's present on every system. There are many excellent (freeware and shareware) authors out there! I'm not adding my own because user's needs can vary a lot (programmers, html writers, e-mail etc).

You can bind your favourite editor to F4 (Configuration | Edit/View tab).
