Two re-dating problems in two distinct areas (see inside)

Post by *eitang »

Hi everybody,

1st problem:

TC v8.52a, Android Samsung Smartphone (Note 3 Lite), WebDav:

Impossible to redate files on the external SD card. The card is a 64GB Samsung (!!!) card and this may be linked to my problem. (?)

2nd problem:

I have many USB "sticks" some very old some relatively young. On some of them redating does not work. I suspect it is a problem with the USB Stick's age.

In both cases, when copying with TC, the files get copied, but their dates become the date of the copy and there is no way to redate them back to the original.

Anybody can confirm that? Or give me a solution?

TIA,
Best Wishes,

Well, I don't have problems with dates on copying at SD cards or USB sticks.

TC sets the date individually just after the copy is done.
TC can't set the date if the file is still locked by another process.
To my knowledge this could be a "slow" antivirus which is still scanning the just copied file.

Try to temporarily stop the antivirus to verify ...

sqa_wizard,

Thanks for replying.

a) TC does the job exactly as expected on most of my destinations be them SD, or USB Sticks.

b) I have no antivirus installed.

Yes, I know I am an exception... (I use R-Drive type apps to backup my whole C: drive often and keep back copies)
