[wish] Search & CSV plugins (reviving old topic)

Post by *milan_va »

Hello.

I posted in a 3-month-old forum in hope Ch.G. would read all new posts and reply, but it didn't happen and nobody else probably reads all new posts. So, after a week, I decided to start the topic again  .

To resume, it was suggested there could be a new plugin type, a search plugin, to search by other criteria that those hard-wired. Examples could be mp3tag artist or a video duration. For details, see
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=1274&start=15

I noticed that a similar plugin could also be used to customize and extend checksum files beyond *.sfv and *.md5 to e.g. *.csv and *.tth just by using the same plugin and a format string.

The general plugin would extract any reasonable metadata from a file as either integer or a string. For a bit more detailed explanation, see
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=2781&start=6
or ask here. I know I can be a little cryptic at times  .

Someone certainly does... But not everyone reading these posts has something to add.

If I remember correctly, last september Ch.G. promised to look at the Search plugin and make it into TC 6.5 . So I was wandering how's it going.

Even if I got a reply: "Christian decided it's not a good idea.", I'd be happy with just that.

Milan

P.S.: Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get a notification email this time.

While you rember right the actual Version of TC is 6.03a. So you would need a lot more patience. :P

As I suggested a quite deep modification of that search plugin, I thought I should speak out loud before it's finished or even better before the work has started.
Otherwise, there's no hurry, I already wrote an application to suit my hashing needs.

It's still planned, but I cannot yet say if/when I will add it, because it's not very high on my to do list. Other things like automatic plugin installation needs to come first.

OK then. As I said, there's no hurry any more.

Although that would be a nice addition
