What you observed is actually the standard behavior since many years (or even from the beginning). When you start search from normal 'Long' view and feed search results to the file list 'Long' is still checked and the column headers from 'Long' view are also still displayed. However in the name column the full search result path is displayed instead of just the name. In order to display very long paths the path spans over all column not just over the name and extension columns.

So if you want to display additional information create a custom column view. I would recommend to create a custom column view dedicated to search results that includes the folder path in one column in other required information in additional columns.
In TC 9 you may want to create a view mode and an auto switch rule that activates the view mode for search results automatically.

1. Configurations->Custom Columns.
Create custom columns (if necessary)

2. Configurations->View Modes
Create view mode eg Search. Assign desired Custom
columns and other properties to it

3. Configurations->Auto Switch Mode
Add rule "S: search Result", assign custom columns from stage 1, check "Automatically switch view mode on directory change"
