a little change (?) for cm_SetAttrib !

Post by *nicol »

Christian ,

i often work on remote Unix system and use the cm_SetAttrib to change permissions on files or files group and i would wish to have the mouse cursor directly in the octal change window without having to click in this window before !

can you do that , please ?

thanks

It would be quite unusual to set the focus to the last control on the page. Btw, you can reach it quickly by pressing 3xTAB.

IMHO he's right... using keyboard it's much faster using the octal permission definition than using checkboxes.
As checkboxes are beter when used with the mouse, I think it wouldn't annoy people having the focus on the numeric field... and it would be beter & faster for people using keyboard...

2nicol: I agree with you.
Using the keyboard it is much easier if the initial focus is on the text field (check/uncheck the options is too complicated by keyboard)

Using mouse it doesn't matter anyway where the focus is.

2ghisler : what about putting the text entry on top ?

He means that you can't use the CL chmod command on more than one file at once...

you can't select many files and use the chmod command on them thru the CL...

As long as you can't win anything, the danger of manipulations is quite low. And I'm using it as a hint only...
