TC Android: I need 'RAR 5 archive' support

Post by *mydeardiary »

It has been a long time since RAR 5 archive format was introduced. RAR for Android defaults to RAR5 format when creating new archive.

Unfortunately, TC Android doesn't handle RAR5 archives, so one has to install another application, such as RAR or Zarchiver to unpack RAR5 archives.

It would be neat for TC Android to add support for RAR5 archives.

The problem with RAR5 is that it can use dictionaries up to 1GB. This is more memory than many Android phones have. It would lead to many user complaints.

I suppose that this feature can wait several years till Android devices with 1 GB ram or less completely disappears.
