Terminology issue

Post by *MarcinW »

There is at least one place in TC (help file: "CdCloseDoor=1 If change drives to a CD-rom fails, try to close the CD drawer"), where a "CD drawer" term is used.

This is unfortunate, since "CD drawer" is a peace of furniture... it would be better to use "CD tray" instead.

Take a look:
https://www.google.com/search?q="cd+drawer"&tbm=isch
https://www.google.com/search?q="cd+tray"&tbm=isch

OK, I have changed this in the help (no entry in the history file).

I just found one more issue in the same place: "CdCloseDoor=1 If change drives to a CD-rom fails"

I suppose that you may want to change this to "CdCloseDoor=1 If changing drive to a CD-ROM fails" (note: in all other places in help, "CD-ROM" in uppercase is used).

There should be "optical (CD/DVD/BD) drive" instead of "CD-ROM", I suppose.

Yes, although a convention in the help file is just a "CD-ROM". I don't think we need to have all the possibilities listed, like DVD-RW, DVD+RW etc. ;)

I think that this note has been overlooked. There is still an unfixed problem with "CdCloseDoor=1 If change drives to a CD-rom fails":

- it seems that "If change drives" should be changed to "If changing drive" (due to a grammar problem),
- "CD-rom" should be changed to "CD-ROM" (to be consistent with all the remaining help texts).
