How to properly installing Imagine plugin?
Hello,
Pardon my newbieness in Total Commander, but can any tell me how to properly installing Imagine Total Commander plugin?.
Installing Imagine.wlx is pretty straight forward but i am confuse on how to installing Imagine.wcx, in the Total Commander Packer Plugins interface, how to properly assign the filetype, and how to delete existing assigned filetypes?.
Also is it possible making Total Commander opening images file using Imagine Lister by double clicking left mouse?.
Cheers,

Cheers,
You can install Imagine.wcx the same way as any other packer plugin for one, preferably "dummy" extension e.g. "BM" or "IMAGE" or "PICTURE" or any other probably unused by any program.
There is no need to register additional extension - plugin recognize files by content, and you can enter into any valid picture file by "CTRL + PGDOWN".
If you want to associate images with IMAGINE (standalone program, not Lister plugin) you must use Windows system interface, depends on your system version.

I never found a good reason to install Imaging as packer plugin.Gral wrote:You can install Imagine.wcx the same way as any other packer plugin for one, preferably "dummy" extension e.g. "BM" or "IMAGE" or "PICTURE" or any other probably unused by any program.

I use it as Lister image viewer since its very first versions.
To enter archives I have packer plugins like Total7zip, ZPAQ or WinRAR.
So I don't see any benefit adding Imaging as a packer plugin.

Put this in your [PackerPlugins] section of your wincmd.ini file:
gif=327,%COMMANDER_PATH%\PLUGINS\wlx\Imagine\Imagine.wcx
Then you will se a listing of the embedded files when you press Ctrl+PgDn on image files. Adjust the path to what you might have.
Notice it wil also work for other file trypes than gif.
It will show all embedded files as .png - and you can only extract them as such.

You can open multi-frame images like animated gifs as a folder, and extract the frames (only as .png) or display each frame. You cannot do that with Total7zip, ZPAQ or WinRARSo I don't see any benefit adding Imaging as a packer plugin.

As there is a plugin specifically designed for gif files ( https://totalcmd.net/plugring/gifwcx.html ), I advise you to install imagine with a different extension.

Note: even if you install Imagine packer plugin with GIF extension you still must use Ctrl+PgDown (not Enter) on any image file. So it is better not confusing and use different extension even so long as e.g. "all_images_supported_by_imagine"
Also it is possible using both plugins by configuring "packer selector" with "Internal associations"
