Most recent UPX has version 3.94, and Christian doesn't develop it. :D

I think he meant UPX-compressed version of TC 9.20.

Edit: MaxX was faster :)

This doesn't work because TC will complain that its executable has been tampered with, e.g. infected by a virus or something.

How do I know this? Well, I tried to UPX compress totalcmd.exe files for quite some time to save some space on my HDD. You might wonder why I do this, but consider that there are a lot of TC releases to test, i.e. quite a number of final versions since 6.50, not all of them equally important of course.

For regular usage I don't use UPX compressed TC and I don't think it's necessary to release one.

I know, that was a kind of joke. :D

One good usecase for a packed executable is running TC from network drive. In such case unpacked executable is only mapped to memory and only used parts of it are loaded, so in case of network loss such executable may crash. Packed version is loaded to memory by its loader entirely so it doesn't require network connection after starting TC.

Same for running from usb drive when you accidentally need to remove it for short time (e.g. copy some files from other PC)
