How to start TC in privileged mode when W10 starts

Post by *louwin »

I cleaned out my temp areas etc and lost this facility. Some batch file got deleted or something. It was setup YEARS ago on my previous system.

Could someone please tell me how I cause TC to start when my Windows 10 64bit system starts (in privileged mode)?

Thanks in anticipation

FAQs: How to start TC in privileged mode when Windows starts / Run As Admin

Post by *Stefan2 »

Not recommended to work always with admin rights, but here is one way:

To launch with admin rights:
- Create a shortcut of the TC.exe.
- Right-click on that shortcut, find and enable "[X]Run as administrator" option.

To autostart TC with WindowsTM (run at startup):
- find your "Autostart" folder (trick: start WinExplorer and go to address> shell:startup )
((( ...AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup )))
- copy or move the above created shortcut to that folder

Another way is to do it in Task Scheduler.

Create a new task and Check "Run with highest Privileges" with a trigger "On login" and Action to start "Total Commander"

Very handy description, Stefan2, thank you.

I recommend to add this to your excellent Generic how-to's Collection / Allgemeine Fragen Sammlung, which should be made sticky. Hasn't it already been stickied in the past? Hmm, if only we could find us a capable Hacker in this forum. ;)
