[TC 9.22a WIn10 and Win XP] Directory hotlist does not work for mobile device

Post by *petermad »

The Directory hotlist does not work with folders on my android 6 smartphone under Windows 10 and XP.

It works for me under Windows 7 and 8.1, but not under Windows 10 and XP. I have testet with TC 9.22a both 32bit and 64bit (Windows XP only 32bit).

Under Windows 10 and XP nothing happens when I click the item in the Directory hotlist.

The path that is stored in the directory hotlist is the same under windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Under Windows XP the path is always cut off after the first dir under the device name (SD-card or Internal storage) - but even if only the path to the device name (no subdir) is saved in the Directory hotlist, the entry in the hotlist does not work.

I can navigate to the subdirs step by step under all 4 OS's, but only via Directory hotlist under Windows 7 and 8.1

To my knowledge, the device gets a new idlist each time it is reconnected, so you cannot use these links on Windows 10.

Hmm, if I in Windows 7 on My HTC One_M8 phone go to "SD-kort" \ "Dcim" \ "100media" and press Ctrl+D and choose "Add current dir" then this is what is saved in the directory hotlist:

Code: Select all

cd ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\\\?\usb#vid_0bb4&pid_0c93#sh443wm07505#{6ac27878-a6fa-4155-ba85-f98f491d4f33}\SID-{F8150001,##storage##478D-0915,31297568768}\{000060A2-0001-F815-0000-000000000000}\{000060A3-0001-F815-0000-000000000000}
And if I do the same in Windows 10 it is the SAME path that is saved - so that doesn't indicate that Windows 10 report a different id to TC - but the link does not work in Win 10.

This path in Directory hotlist (win 10)

Code: Select all

cd ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\\\?\usb#vid_0bb4&pid_0c93#sh443wm07505#{6ac27878-a6fa-4155-ba85-f98f491d4f33}
Takes me to the "root" of "HTC One_M8"

But one directory deeper:

Code: Select all

cd ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\\\?\usb#vid_0bb4&pid_0c93#sh443wm07505#{6ac27878-a6fa-4155-ba85-f98f491d4f33}\SID-{F8150001,##storage##478D-0915,31297568768}
should take me to the subdir "SD-kort" - but nothing happens (win 10)

It always depends on the OLE data provider whether it can parse the names passed to it.
