Color coded Drives or directories
It could be nice to have the possibility to "colorcode" drives or directories. I would love to have a fast feedback if Im somewhere dangerous, or setting a different color for different computers shares over the network.

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
You can already do that with "View Mode" combined with "Auto Switch Mode".

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
I'm going to investigate. Thanks for the hint.
Re: Color coded Drives or directories
Here are some settings for inspiration:
Click the red button Show here above and put the code in your wincmd.ini file and restart TC. Then go to "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "View Mode" and "Auto Switch Mode" - to see how it works.

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
There is also additional information here.
Re: Color coded Drives or directories
This is exactly what I was looking for...
I apologize for not having search the forum ( or you know, open the settings dialog... ) before posting and wasting people time...
I love how the tabs "remember" the color.
But since we are in suggestions... "
I hate that I have to configure the "Background 2 color" to match "background" and I miss the rest of the "Color" options.
Would be nice to be able to create multiple "Color" profiles (Themes?) and just being able to select them under View Mode.
Same thing with custom columns probably.
I would like to be able to switch the a different button bar (and maybe being able to set Button bars background color.
The Tab icon is a bit broke.

...Please make those dialog resizable...

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
You could also consider to use "Background 2" color in the "Color" configuration (I recommend rgb: 240 240 240.I hate that I have to configure the "Background 2 color" to match "background"
If you the set "Background 2" color in all View Modes to "Default", then the setting from the "Color" configuration will be used.
It is possible to switch the buttonbar with a "View Mode". You have to make an em_command that uses the OPENBAR <barfile) command, and then use that em_command in the "Auto-run comands:" field of the View Mode.I would like to be able to switch the a different button bar

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
Not an option. I usually have the selection bar to white and the whole b/b2 just get super confusing most of the time.
the color management just behave differently between [Color] and [View Mode]. I assume it is still a work in progress.
But as [Vievmode] is now is already excellent and it exceed my expectation!

Ok, this time I checked before asking for the feature and the "cm_openbar" isn't there (9.22a).
No big deal. Thanks again for the suggestions
Re: Color coded Drives or directories
No it is not cm_openbar but OPENBAR, you find it in the section "Commands with parameters" near the bottom of the list when you run cm_CommandBrowser - and since it is not a cm_command, you have to use it in and em_command, which you can then use in the View Mode.Ok, this time I checked before asking for the feature and the "cm_openbar" isn't there

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
Yeah you assume I had any idea that was possible to create new CM commands selecting usercmd.ini and those extra commands only show up when you actually create a new command... you made me browse a lot around sir.petermad wrote: ↑2019-12-18, 21:26 UTC No it is not cm_openbar but OPENBAR, you find it in the section "Commands with parameters" near the bottom of the list when you run cm_CommandBrowser - and since it is not a cm_command, you have to use it in and em_command, which you can then use in the View Mode.
At least I learned something new.

Re: Color coded Drives or directories
Sorry for that, but I did give you the direct command for the Command Browser/Editor: cm_CommandBrowseryou made me browse a lot around sir.
You could just have run cm_CommandBrowser from TC's command line (or put it in a button on the buttonbar).

(I think he was thanking you for inducing him to delve deeper into the exigencies of TC's wonder, peter)
(I also think that it would be possible to do a PhD on Total Commander... )
