Alternate themes/skins for TC 8.0.1?

Post by *PRR »

I just installed TC 8.0.1 and am interested in alternate skins or themes (whatever they are called). Are any available?

No skins, no themes. (true, no kidding)

Therefore all Total Commander installations look absolutely identical as can be seen in this WIKI thread Total Commander Screenshots
And therefore there are no hints available on how one might change the look and feel of Total Commander.
Finally it is absolutely forbidden to apply any of the tips given in the thread: Power User Color Scheme.

Seriously:
Changing the look and feel of Total Commander is manual work. There are quite a few utilities available which may help fiddling around with the relevant settings on Totalcmd.net.
And there are quite a few (old and less old) threads scattered throughout the forums discussing ways of customizing Total Commander.

TC is using the Windows theme services. To use third party themes, you will have to patch uxtheme.dll and them get themes from sites like deviantart.

I am still looking forward for a new response. Themes... I dream about that day.

Well... ha, not bad:
New functions in Total Commander 9.50:
User interface:
Dark mode, starting with Windows 10 1809 (Fall 2018), unofficially also with older Windows versions (ForceDarkModeOptions=1)

Total Commander 9.50 beta 11 can be configured in dark mode by going to:
- Configuration
- Options
- Color
- Dark Mode

I can work with that for now.
