Moving [totalcmd] to C: drive upon final release of 9.50
I've been testing 9.50 on a different drive than C:, where I still have 9.22a. I've made a number of customizations to 9.50 that I'd like to keep.
When 9.50 Final is released, will it be as simple as archiving C:\totalcmd, copying 9.50 from the test drive to C:, and running the installer?
If not, what changes will I need to make in my 9.50 installation so that it knows it's now on the C: drive?

Well, it depends on the kind of modification you made.
If there are just options and colors which have been modified, it is sufficient to do a normal install to drive C and copy the beta version of wincmd.ini over the normal one.
If you have installed some addional plugins, you have to copy the whole beta version to drive C and do a normal install afterwards.
All settings will be kept.

So as long as the test version of wincmd.ini is updated to reflect the new install directory, I'm good?

No. There may be many places where full path "D:\totalcmd" (where D is your test drive letter) is saved and used. Some of them may cause error messages in the future.

You should only copy the wincmd.ini file from your beta version over your wincmd.ini from your 9.22a version if you started out testing the beta version with a copy of your wincmd.ini from your 9.22a version. And you should check and possibly change all occurences of D:\ afterwards as Usher points out.

Thanks all. I think I'll go the safe route and re-do my modifications after I install 9.50 Final over 9.22a.

You could also use the "Compare by Content" tools to copy all lines that ONLY exists in the wincmd.ini file from 9.5 to the ini file from 9.22a - that could save you a lot of time.

You did mention only about testing TC itself. I suspect that you may have tested also some new plugins, addons, buttons, icons or other changes which use full path to the test location. If this is your case, you should also copy all those things with their config/ini files and fix paths in every place there.
