Not all system sounds are available in dark mode

Post by *Randall12365 »

Hello everyone!

Many thanks to Christian Ghisler for the brilliant Commander, whom I have been using for a long time - and currently for the new version 9.50 with its chic dark mode! ... :-)...

The switch to dark mode on my computer (Windows 7, 64 bit) is accompanied by an acoustic change (which I cannot influence) that relates to two (previously discovered) system sounds:

The output of the Simple directory comparison with Shift + F2 is highlighted with the event sound "asterisk" when two different directories match, which can be heard in both light and dark modes ... but if I accidentally do the same on both sides Compare directory with each other, the message "Warning: The left and right side show the same directory!" This event is assigned the sound "Critical abort", which is only called up in light mode - however, in dark mode it does not appear. .

Okay, the comparison of a directory with itself occurs relatively a rare, and the lack of appropriate system sound is therefore indeed trüblich but still halfway bearable ... ;-)...

is somewhat different to the direct deletion(without moving to the trash) ... Here the system sound »question« is played in light mode (a voice I picked up from a golf simulation a long time ago asks me: »Still you turn?«) ... that is practical and useful and reduces the likelihood of accidental deletions ... but unfortunately this sound is missing in the dark mode ... if I then switch to the light mode, it is available again when the confirmation window ("Permanently delete") is opened ...

In the control panel (accessible in the Commander via Settings - Miscellaneous - User-defined sounds - Configure) you will find the sounds that are missing in dark mode in the section »Windows« ... all sounds that I have assigned exclusively to the Total Commander (»Unpack completely«, » Copy / move completely «etc.) also work in dark mode, but unfortunately the two Windows sounds» question «and» critical termination «only work in light mode ...

does anyone know what to do ? Is there possibly a switch that I could flip in "wincmd.ini" so that the two sounds can also be heard in dark mode?

I can confirm that system sounds are not played in Dark mode when comparing a directory with itself, and before deleting (if systemsound "Question" is enabled)

I can add that no sound is played in Dark mode in "Configuration" -> "Options" -> "Misc." -> "Custom sounds" when the "Configure" button is clicked.

Even though Randall12365 is banned, the problem he describes is still present.
