How to merge monthly updates of packed files automatically ?

Post by *Ammammata »

Hi guys.
Currently there are 4793 topics, I searched for my needs but could not find anything, so I create a new topic

I have several zip/7z files in several folders, a sort of history archive

I receive monthly updates, with same filenames stored in same folder-names :)

I'd like to merge the newcomers into the existing ones with a single copy/merge operation, selecting all source folders, with options to overwrite if older, overwrite read-only/hidden/system, copy oversized filenames, etc etc as per copy command

Now I do this manually, it takes a while but it's just once a month, but the target is that an automatic&tested operation reduces my errors ;)

TIA and sorry if something similar has been already posted or there is a command or parameter available that I'm missing

Synchronize directories, https://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/Synchronize_directories, will do this for multiple compressed files in a single folder. This process could be automated for a single folder. You would still need to go folder to folder.
