un-rar configuration in options > packer > rar-packer ?

Post by *lezerogan2 »

Latest windows 10 home 64 bit. TC 10.51 64 bit.
I want to configure TC > options > configuration > packer > rar-packer.
I don’t pack rar, I just un-pack rar files.
"Use internal un-rar…" filed is checked.

Which file do you recommend to put in rar packer field: unrar.exe , winrar.exe , unrar.dll ?
And from where to download safely this file?
Thank you

It does not matter when you don't want to create or modify RAR files. Unpacking doesn't need that field when you use the internal RAR unpacker, which uses the offocial unrar dll from the RAR author.

I have configured my installed WinRAR
"C:\Program Files\WinRAR\Winrar.exe"
But you can also use Rar.exe.
Unrar.dll is already used by TC internal and makes no sense here.

A safe download for WinRar files is its home page of course.
You said you only want to unpack rar files, so normaly you don't need this addional entry.
