Some directories do not show in the file window

Post by *Nazgul »

I have Total Commander 7.50a on 64-bit Windows Vista. There are some directories on my PC (at least two, maybe more) which never show up in the file list window for no apparent reason (the are not hidden, etc.)

However, I can navigate to them by typing cd <directory name>. Then I can see all files and directories inside as usual.

I can view these directories using other tools (e.g. windows explorer).

Rebooting does not help.

Thanks for the reply. I have read the thread. But I don't understand.

I have no problem accessing %windir%\SysNative\drivers\etc with TC (I can't access with Explorer though). My problem is that I can't see the directory where I store all my work. It is a regular directory I have create, not a system directory or a "pseudo-subdirectory".

Sorry, this was the standard reply for "vista / x64 / folder / hidden".

:arrow: Did you add the name of the directory to TC's ignore list?
"Configuration-> Options.. -> Ignore List"

:arrow: Does this directory has the system attribute set (e.g. because it has a customized icon)?
1) "Configuration-> Options.. -> Display [x] Show hidden/system files"
2) "Files->Change Attributes"
Remove the "[ ] s System" flag
Check "[x] r Read only"
3) "Configuration-> Options.. -> Display [ ] Show hidden/system files"

If this doesn't help:
:arrow: Could you please post the complete path of the directory you can't access?

Regards
Holger

One of the directories had a custom icon (the other one did not). The files have shown using "Display [x] Show hidden/system files".

No attributes were shown on these files, but I have removed them nonetheless. Now I can see both directories, even if I choose to hide hidden/system files. I can't see the custom icon anymore but that's not a problem anymore.

Thanks, HolgerK.

I can't see the custom icon anymore
Just write protect the directory (set the read-only attribute) - then you should see the custom icon again.
