Bottom arrow for scrolling long menus

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Bottom arrow for scrolling long menus

Post by *LonerD »

Old-old bug.
Windows taskbar at the top of the screen. (important!).
Windows 10 x64 (as I remember the same behavior was on previous versions)

I have 37 Custom Columns, but can see only 29 with current screen resolution.
No way to reach the rest (30-37) with mouse.
Mouse scroll don't work with this menu and no small arrow at the bottom of the menu (as you can see - only inactive arrow at the top).

(only can scroll with keyboard "up" and "down" buttons).

In the same time long Main Menu has both up and down arrows:

This is a Windows bug. I'm using a regular context menu here, and Windows itself sizes it and moves it so it's fully visible. Apparently Windows doesn't take a taskbar at the top into account.

:(

Can you add scrolling with mouse scroll for such long menus?

This is a Windows bug. I'm using a regular context menu here....
But TS stated that:
In the same time long Main Menu has both up and down arrows:
so - how it's possible? Definitely we have the same regular context menu in that case.
But the first menu - has all proper functionality, and the second - does not?

It's a Microsoft bug, they do not consider the space used by the taskbar at the TOP.

But why does it not happen for LonerD in the Main menu:

Can you reproduce it on Win XP-7-8.1?
Set small resolution (for examle 1280x720), and check long Main menu and long menu with Custom Columns (for example, you can create 30-40 empty custom columns just for check how context menu looks).

I tried it on Windows 10 on a laptop with 1366x768 resolution - here I cannot reproduce the problem neither with the Taskbar at top or at bottom: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/longcustcolumnlist.png

On my Windows 10 computer I am using 1920x1080 and I cannot make enough custom column views to test it - and I dont want to change the resolution, because it will mess up my icons on the screen.

Under Windows 7 I tried setting TC's Menu icon size to 32x32 to enlarge the menu, and even though the menu only showed 28 out of 32 items when opened, the menu never reached the top of the screen, and I got scroll arrows at both the top and the bottom.

EDIT:
I looked at your screenshot again an noticed that you had opened the menu by right-clicking the column headers and not via the Manin menu as I did.

If I open the menu via right click on the column headers I can reproduce the bug with no arrow in the bottom: https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/longcustcolumnlist2.png

But problem NOT in main menu (as you can see on my screens everything is OK with Main Menu).

Problem with Custom Columns menu: cm_LeftCustomViewMenu or cm_RightCustomViewMenu or right mouse button on columns title.

I realized that - see my EDIT here above.

I see the same problem if I make enough View Modes and open the list with cm_SrcViewModeList : https://tcmd.madsenworld.dk/longviewmodelist.png

For both the Custom Columns list and the View Mode list i ONLY see the problem with Windows' Taskbar at the top

So it's a Windows bug with context menus only (TrackPopupMenu), but not with main menus.
