[TC 11.00b10x64] randomly access violations "A9F307" (mouse hover over a file)

Post by *HolgerK »

I've noticed this several times (also with B9) and tried to reproduce this with a blank wincmd.ini: so far no success.

TC runs in dark mode; panels with full view; extensive use of colors by filetype (e.g. "Locked_plugin="unicodetest.Locked test" != Access", ..)

Last time this happens was while a background program uses 80%-100% cpu load (Handbrake mkv-file recoding; CPU 12-core Ryzen 9 5900x)
I switched from background program to TC; mouse hovers the right panel -> crash:

Code: Select all

---------------------------
Total Commander 11.00b10
---------------------------
Access violation.
Access violation
Windows 10 Professional 10.0 (Build 19045), base: 0400000

Please report this error to the Author, with a description
of what you were doing when this error occurred!

Continue execution?

After continue execution with 'Yes', TC seems to operate normal.

Did the mouse hover over a file and do you use Win32-style tooltips (which appear on hover)?

Probably Yes (mouse hover over a file) and Yes (use Win32-style tooltip).
But i have set 'FileTipWindowsOnIcon=1' so the chance that the tooltip window would be triggered is low when activating the main windows by clicking on the title bar and moving the mouse down into the file list.

Anyway i will try to test this special trigger.

Thanks for the hint
Holger

"A9F307" is already known to Mr. Ghisler.

Indeed it's a known problem which will be fixed soon, it's a problem with drawing buttons in the button bar in dark mode.

For me this is fixed in TC 11.00RC1 x64. :)
Thank you!

Where is the A9F307 bug reported, and where in history.txt does it say that it is fixed - just curious ;-)

I submitted this crash report for TC 11.00b9 by email: Stack trace (x64):A9EC24
HISTORY.TXT wrote:05.07.23 Release Total Commander 11.00 beta 10
30.06.23 Fixed: Dark mode: Access violation in button bar drawing function (due to a change in beta 9)
                when drawing button frames (32/64)
According to Mr. Ghisler, after that, TC 11.00b10 encountered the same error but with a different address: Stack trace (x64):A9F307
Presumably for this reason there was no new entry in the "HISTORY.TXT" file in TC 11.00RC1.

The error "A9F307" was then reported by user HolgerK in the bug forum and I then informed in this forum
that Mr. Ghisler was already aware of this error.

For me, this bug has been fixed in TC 11.00RC1 x64, because there are no longer any error messages when TC is used intensively.

It only remains to be seen whether the same applies to user HolgerK.
