Old https protocols disabled on ghisler.com

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

For security reasons, I have now disabled the old protocols TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on ghisler.com and plan to do the same on ghisler.ch too.

This should not affect users on Windows 7 and newer, and Android 5 and newer.
It could be a problem on Windows XP and on Android 4.4 and older.

Please let me know if you encounter any problems accessing ghisler.com.

Under Windows XP with Internet Explorer 8 I can access http://ghisler.com without problems, but not https://ghisler.com - I just get the message that IE cannot show the page.

I if I try to use http://ghisler.ch I am redirected to https://ghisler.ch - here i get a message about an invalid certificate and can not navigate on the site.

My Windows XP is sp3 but otherwise almost plain out of the box.

I don't have any problems with Mozilla browser under Windows XP.

I didn't change anything on ghisler.ch yet. The problem with ghisler.ch isn't TLS 1.2, it's the certificate from Let's encrypt. It may be possible to install the root certificate to make it work on XP. But most people on XP will use a different browser than IE anyway because many sites no longer work with IE.

I agree. I have this certificate fixed, so there are no problems with https in other browsers (SeaMonkey, K-Meleon, MyPal, 360 Extreme Explorer, Maxthon, SlimJet, SRWare Iron, etc.). I haven't even looked at IE, there are a lot of things that don't work there.

I see you mention SeaMonkey - if you use that browser, you might want to check this out: https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/seamonkey/addon/pinball-theme/

Thanks, but I hardly use SeaMonkey. And I'm only interested in night skins. ;)
