Lister Hexadecimal view doesn't have UTF-8

Post by *Serg2000Mr »

Hi there

When I switch to hexadecimal (3) view mode in the Lister and try to change encoding to UTF-8 I can't do it because it is not on the list. There is only UTF-7 from UTF's

By default there is no UTF-7 coding under encoding menu. Maybe you added this item yourself? You can do this also for UTF-8.
Under "Encoding" menu choose "Other (enter code page manually) and type "65001" or even better "UTF-8 (65001)".
The latter adds item to menu permanently.

For me, this is pretty valuable knowledge.
Thank you very much.

Is there a way to put UTF-16 there?
Tried to input 1200 or 1201.
Then it returns a message "This code page is not installed (Control Panel)!"
Where and what it should be installed if it could be?

Edit.
Googled a bit. Looks as though, it's all about the code page of the Windows console.

Actually, I didn't even know about the existence of such encoding before. This menu item is on my different computers, so I couldn't have added it accidentally.

UTF-8 (65001) - works perfectly, thank you
