Search queries in TC using 'Everything'

Re: Search queries in TC using 'Everything'
I just run Everything as a Service, then I don't need any antries in wincmd.ini. Running as a Service is recommended by Everything itself.

Re: Search queries in TC using 'Everything'
That only works if you also set the Everything option "Start Everything on system startup"petermad wrote: 2025-09-06, 10:47 UTC I just run Everything as a Service, then I don't need any antries in wincmd.ini. Running as a Service is recommended by Everything itself.
This is a suggested option but not all users have enabled it.
Without this, there will be no Everything client in the background and TC has to start it.

Following many Everything related forums, petermad wrote: 2025-09-06, 12:33 UTCSure, and why shouldn't they. This is a suggested option but not all users have enabled it.
here are users which don't know any details but try to minimize PC startup.
It's a very bad decision to not always start the client.
In this case it has to synchronize the database which may take a long time.
Version 1.5 is better in this case, as the user can make queries while this happens.

I would like to quote one point from this:
Gemäß Vorschau kannst Du Everything 1.4 und Everything 1.5b bzw. die Release-Version nicht standardmäßig parallel ausführen.
Falls Du Everything 1.4 weiterhin verwenden möchtest ist u.a. die Erstellung einer separaten Everything 1.4 Instanz erforderlich.

Once Everything 1.5 is in beta, the 1.5a instance will be removed. alpha_instance
You will not be able to run Everything 1.4 and Everything 1.5b side by side by default.
Same applies to the release version.
The Everything 1.5 Service will be renamed to Everything Service once in beta.
It is possible to use a custom instance in Everything 1.4 to install a service with a different name.
eg: Everything-1.4.exe -instance "1.4" will use a service named Everything Service (1.4)
Everything 1.5 will only have one service, which manages all 1.5 instances.
Falls Du Everything 1.4 weiterhin verwenden möchtest ist u.a. die Erstellung einer separaten Everything 1.4 Instanz erforderlich.
