How can i see Rar files?

Post by *joridi.c »

Hello,

I have a question about looking into a Rar file.

Total Commander is coupled to Winrar.exe, but when i double click on a .rar package part 1 TC won't show me all the files that are in.

I think the reason is because there are more packages, but sometimes i don't want to unpack it to see all the files which are in.

So my question is, is it possible to see all the files (from part 1 to 60) in rar package part 1 without unpacking it but just open it?

Regards

No, not with Total Commander. That for you must use Winrar.

You might use the new TotalSQX plugin by Lefteous instead RAR now; it's quite free, and all files of a multi-volume are shown in the part #1 (which is the one having the *.sqx extension) :D

@Vansumsen:
How much sense does it make to view RAR-Files with the SQX-Plugin?
(I dont think that this would even work...)

:) Hello !

- Indeed, Paul meant to create such archives, and marked his message as [½ OT]
- After all, the starter doesn't tell if there are RAR he created or that he got from some(where)(body)

- Moreover, Paul doesn't say that RAR-parts can be open / listed with the SQX plugin, he knows very well how it works, and for which jobs it has been designed (and I too !)

There is a plugin that is able to view multi-volume RAR-archives correctly:

There is only one "him", not many "them".

I don't know, ghisler has refused to implement decent RAR multi-volume handlung since the last century IIRC, only he can explain. ;)
IIRC in some antique threads he has told something about RAR-dll not supporting that but I am maybe wrong, it's too long ago...

Another solution:
1. Download unrar.exe from www.rarlab.com.
2. Tell TC where it is in Configuration > Packer > Rar packer.

Works for me :D

Thanks 2 Icfu

This thread is about viewing multi-volume archives so whatever works for you, it has nothing to do with the problem. Please reread the first posting.
