I don't think UltraExplorer is a competitor, as it's an Explorer clone (it's not dual panel manager).

But I agree that it's good.

That... "thing" ain't a competitor and moreover doesn't look like a tool to complement anything. The most I can say about it is that it looks like a malformed copy-paste operation.
TC for Linux please!

You're cruel.
But yes, it's rather a pseudo competitor.

Scanner

The Scanner provides a visualization of your media usage. To show the
relations optimally, all files and folders of the selected disk(s)
are displayed together in one diagram - with an area size proportional
to the used space.

A new alternative in the big line of Application launchers.

http://www.executor.dk/

This one is somewhat similar to TAR. Big difference is that there is active work on Executor.
The programmer listens to input, values it and produces a new version pretty quickly.
Try it out, if you like it let him know through his forum. If you don't like it or miss anything: also let him know!

Vistart is a XP start menu replacement that closely resembles the new Windows Vista start menu.

There are a lot of skins available here, so you can change it if the program doesn't look the same style as your current XP theme.

Finally, the great austrian text editor PlainEdit is now available also in english (after unpacking, you can change language to english in the 'Extras' menu).

Screenshot
Download (~600KB)

+ Free to use
+ Doesn't require installation
+ Tabbed interface
+ Syntax highlighting (additional highlighters available here)
+ Search text in all opened files
+ Multiline search and replace
+ Supports plugins (a beta version of a simple file compare tool is available in the beta section of the homepage)
+ Customizeable keyboard shortcuts
+ Many text formatting tools (case, charset,...)
+ Paste clipboard content at beginning or end of each selected line
+ ...

After I did check out many Notepad replacements over the years, which all lacked some essential features for my preference, this one has finally made my day, I use it since the first release.

Better in French ! lol

:) Hello !

• Thanks, it seems a good editor, I'll give it a try.
- Prior, I make a French LNG :P
- The English file is a bit lame here and there, examples :
Main|mnuInsertFilePath=File &pfad path

Main|mnuInsertClipboardLineBegin=At the &beginning of each line
 Inopportune “German commas” :
…Remove lines, which match the following…
and so on…

• If I keep this programme, I guess I'll send the French LNG to the Author
(First, I've to check whether all strings fit in the controls !)

Yes, I'm sure Werner (the author) would be glad about this. He appreciates feedback and suggestions. In fact, he did implement many features I suggested.

I already reported him the language bugs you found.

Edit
... and he just answered me that he has fixed them. That was fast :)

He also said that he'd be glad about your translation. He also said that if there are spacing problems with some controls, you can contact him about that.

CHM Decoder (CHM2HTML-source unpacker plus menu tree creation):
http://www.gridinsoft.com/chm.php

Very useful when you hate CHM and the clumsy hh.exe and prefer to read help files in your default browser.

Also has command line support:

Code: Select all

chmdecoder.exe [-menu] chm_file [destination_path]

BTW, CHMDir plugin can do this too. Simply ctrl+pgdn on CHM and all the HTML files are out there.

Done but…

:) Hello !

• Sorry, I missed your answer here, probably because we had some unexpected connection cuts recently …

• Actually, I have translated the LNG into French (and Paul Vansumsen-friend checked it, as usual…)
and sent it to the author via e-mail, but till now I didn't get any reply.

- It's annoying, because testing further, Paul and I discovered some GUI bugs (and not only), and we would like a feedback.
- Also, we have polished-up that translation, it's OK now.
- Whether you could get news from the author, please let me know via e-mail (from the board here). TIA !
