It would make more sense if he would include an option to ENABLE the splash and to disable it by default.

This splash screen is so extraordinary stupid that it hurts:
PlainEdit is loading!

WOW, really? Huh, maybe that's because I started it?

Splash screens are a relict from the 90s. In that time I've had several apps loading at startup and nearly all of them were planting their junk information while loading. Meanwhile all smart developers don't even THINK about annoying users with splash screens by default, at least not those who create REAL freeware but nagware.

Displaying a license screen ONCE on first startup, with the obligatory "I am so proud of myself for writing this software that I kiss my feet every morning and tell others about it"-sign is ok, but it should at least have a "don't display again" checkbox.

Sorry for pooping the party, I don't want to destroy your loving feeling for the PlainEdit author... ;)

:) Hi Jeff !

• Indeed you are right, right and right !

• Fortunately, this author doesn't need an ear trumpet, like I show above.
I've also the pic for those who need that accessory…
- So, there is a good chance that the reverse option you recommend be adopted…

Dang! Although lucky me received a professional version for some aid & support, it is indeed a bad move to limit this 'feature' to the pro version only.

Maybe this thing is about to slowly mutate into shareware...

Using Beta 1.7.3_1 you can now disable the splash screen in the normal version.
So we can continue to like that editor.

Page 80???
Wow, quite the thread. I don't think the forum was designed for topics this big. Searching for something you know you saw in this topic is a problem for example.

Why not create a "Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC" Forum, would be a lot easier to follow, would keep information about programs together in a topic, would remove the need for a manually created wiki-page and .... (probably more).

Lots of things to gain here. So, why not?

Because most of the 3rd party have already been mentioned, this thread is more or less dead.

Feel free to update the Wiki if you have nothing to do:

If you like forums with one program per thread, try the EFB (German):

Good step---

:) Hello All !

• The 1.5 version of GFIE Pro is available, SAME URL.

• Main additions :

- *.ANI support, with animated preview,

- Maximal file-size enhanced for file-types else than *.ICO¦*.CUR¦*.ANI
(1024×1024 pixels guaranteed, more at your own risks).
- So, it can be used for retouchs with usual types *.PNG, JPG…

• Many graphic (and else) bugs fixed…
… and nice To-Do¦Wish-lists at the Author's for the next version, already ! A good step 8)

Thanks Clo!
Have been trying several icon-editors in the past, but this one looks really promising.
The other 2 apps there seem very interesting too btw..

Free Uninstaller is not only an alternative Add/Remove, as many, but also shows very detailed reg info about the app.

I made a small batchfile to make a playlist-file in the M3U format from the commandline : plist.bat

The WinLame audio converter.

I also made two batchfiles based on a converter by Mark Russinovich of Sysinternals : Hex2Dec.
To get a bidirectional conversion used as system command. Maybe faster than calling a calculator.

(This is a thread with a straightforward growing list, basically different from a thread with some discussion
about a specific issue. It will become bigger and bigger, so if it's become huge, one can't ask people anymore
to search the list first, before adding a new item. Also because new versions could be there in the meantime.
So, in this concept, it's not quite relevant/important/a problem, to see a double post once in a while.)
