Hi SAM,

all the link you give are in your own "space", it could be simpler to link to the original homepage of the tool (to follow version) and not have trouble with re-distribution !

Md5Checker

Post by *sas2000 »

Hi, Md5Checker 3.3 is a freeware, faster, lightweight and easy-to-use tool to manage, calculate and verify MD5 checksum of multiple files/folders

- Calculate and display MD5 checksum of multiple files at one time.
- Load, save, add, remove and update MD5 checksum conveniently (Unicode).
- Does not require any installation.
- It only works with Md5 files, not Sfv or similar.
- Other features.

I mainly use it to verify Md5 files and it's quite good, the best feature for me is that you can configure it to use context menu "Sent to", this way you can select multiple Md5 files from different directories (branch view or search mode) and verify them all in 1 step, once verification has ended you can sort results to show only error files.

One thing that i really dislike about Md5Checker is that it doesn't remember window size/position if you resize it.

I understand your concern, and thanks for your additions, but let me explain:

These aren't just some local file-copies to be downloaded. For years I'm maintaining a page on my site with a carefully selected collection of free or opensource applications, plus other URLs to websites or useful data, etc.
So if I decide to add a certain app, I'm taking the obligation to 'keep up' with the latest version seriously.
And if I see that the original source has more to offer, I often add the URL of the homepage.

In the case of hex2dec I mention the author, but I don't feel obliged to add the original link, because I made something else with it. (and because it's M$, to be honest)

I just discovered PowerCMD.

Though the features/interactivity are still somewhat limited (auto-completion needs work and the environment variable list is passive) this console tool is very useful. I'm impressed.

Generally looks nice, but has some annoying "features". When I set log path to %COMMANDER_PATH%\(...), it saves full path on close. Made the config read only - it leaves 3 copies of the new config with .tmp extension in it's directory. I made the directory read only - it changed it's attributes and still leaves these .tmps
I think I have to contact the authors...

NW Docx Converter:

Allows to view *.docx, *.dotx (MS Word 2007) and *.sxw, *.odt (OpenOffice) files. Converts these documents to richtext (rtf) or PDF files.

Sorry for my late reply, in the mean time it's already page 81.
icfu wrote:Because most of the 3rd party have already been mentioned, this thread is more or less dead.
You're kidding, right? One month, 1 extra page. I'll bet ya there's many more pages to come and searching this topic something get harder with every page. And "most of the 3rd party have already been mentioned", like there's no new software being made all the time....

You seem to have missed my point. Making a sub-forum would remove the need for a wiki. The fact that the wiki is always behind and waiting for someone to update it more or less says enough: the info is already there, why copy it somewhere else?
icfu wrote:If you like forums with one program per thread, try the EFB (German): http://www.essential-freebies.de/board/portal.php
Nice idea, German is not my best point though :)

I like the useful tools to complement TC, that kind of makes it more specific than just a freeware-site.

I'd like to repeat my question: why not split it? What reasons are there against it?

I am not kidding and I haven't missed your point.

I even add some sugar on top:
Not only this thread is dead, the forum is dead too. It's as dead as a paprika being hot when compared with Blair’s 16 Million Reserve.

I am thankful if I get a reply on a posting within one month, you have answered just in time.

I have nothing against it, I just doubt that you will find enough people in this forum to fill it with content.

Or better, go here.

This tread sucks.

If I ever feel the need to use an alternative to the EFB forum, I will. ;)

Soon, probably this evening, a new Unlocker version will be released which fixes /L parameter, by the way... The author has just contacted me. He is almost as fast as ghisler, only needed one year to fix it.

OK, that's probably true. Haven't visited the forum very often lately myself. Reasons for that are, well let's not go there...*sigh*

Whatever, was just an idea to make things workable again, but you're probably right. So let's finish this in Monty Python style:

Wow, quite the thread. I don't think the forum was designed for topics this big. Searching for something you know you saw in this topic is a problem for example.

Why not create a "Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC" Forum, would be a lot easier to follow, would keep information about programs together in a topic, would remove the need for a manually created wiki-page and .... (probably more).

Lots of things to gain here. So, why not?
Besides that the forum is dead (seems Icfu is right), an offtopic forum is unwanted.
Too bad. :?

caliban wrote:A very powerfull Task Manager: x. It can terminate any type of processes, bypassing all permissions; allows to suspend and reactivate a process (as in Linux)...

And take a look at the HDHacker on the same page. It saves/restores the MBR, and the BootSector.
Somebody knows how can I change original behavior of Ctrl+Alt+Del ?
I want to activate DTaskManager instead of Task Manager.

Thanks in advance!
My Best Wishes,
