You are right.
Current behavior is inconsistent, because the user may not decide whether to save or clear the list, when using "Go to file" or "Feed to listbox":
- Closing search window -> result list saved ("Cancel", Esc) or cleared ("x" or Alt+F4),
- "Go to file" -> result list always saved,
- "Feed to listbox" -> result list always cleared.
So I've got the following idea:
- For now: TC could save the list in all cases - if the user wants to clear the list because of a huge memory usage (this is rather rare case), he may just start a new search and abort it immediately.
- For the future: TC could warn the user and ask if he wants to save or clear the list, when the list occupies more than, let's say, 20 MB of memory.

Just another idea:
The actual memory, occupied by the search results, could be shown in the status bar (right-aligned for example).
And there is also enough space for adding a "Clear" button below the "Help" button, or between "Cancel" and "Help" buttons. I know that most translations are currently done, so this button could be added in the next release.
