CHM in TC 6.55

Post by *djk »

Hi,
29.05.06 Added: Call CHM help file instead of HLP if present in the same dir with same name
Nice to hear it. ;)

- Is a chm help version available anywhere for download?
- Does it mean that if there are both files in the same directory (hlp and chm) - chm will be loaded first?
- Will it also work with language-specific chm versions, eg. wcmd_pol.chm?

Yes, with the two help files (CHM&HLP), the first in load is the CHM. TC must restart after of copy the the chm file to toalcmd directory.

If the CHM file is deleted, TC can't load the help file (hlp) even TC is restarted again.

I have just uploaded the converted English help. You can get it here:

Unfortunately yes, it seems to be unloaded only when closing Total Commander.

That's relatively moderate if you consider that it uses the Microsoft HTML control from Internet Explorer...

Good feature for TC 6.55!! CHM help file is better cause is easier to navigate across the different topics in there.

Disadvantages of CHM
- u cant close it with Escape
- the CHM-File is not opened in Correct Size
- If u rightclick on a CHM in first Command isnt CLOSE

PS: will we see Translated CHM Files someday ?
