It depends on the specific implementation. If adding the CD/DVD burning feature to TC will require making it 10 times larger and 2 times slower, I disagree. If it will not be possible to perform the burning in background, I disagree (in this case I'll need to run another TC instance, and why not run a burning external tool instead?). And so on.

2Flint: Totally agree with your denial.
A CD/DVD burning feature is a full time job. Any change/enhancement/bug at implementing or at the library it is based will make TC unstable with no way to disable it.

Furthermore all depends on a library which may stop the development ...

I like it as a plugin, so everybody can decide to use it or better use a fully featured standalone tool according his/her needs.

Totally agree, but the problem is that newbies don't know how to install/use plugins and they usually prefer full featured & easy to use file managers.

We already have the plugin (which is very incomplete), and it works fast.. Anyway, still if it would be implented, dont use it if you don't want.. It is that simple.. Ghisler will ofcourse make sure you can disable it or just not load in that case.

Imo, this is the right sequence:

1st: full unicode support.
2nd: media burning support.

Imho, as already someone suggested, media burning feature should be offered as a plugin that you are asked if you want to use during TC's installation.

Also, if the media burning feature is not greenware-d (i.e. use it from a usb flash), I wouldn't want it :O I mean, in my main system I intend to continue using separate software for CD/DVD burning anyway.

my 2 cents.

I wonder why this thread leads to a discussion about the priorities on the to do list.
The Unicode support will not be changed before TC 7.5 or 8.

The plugin TcBurner is in the Network Neighborhood listing.
But not only newbies expect to burn CD/DVD with Drive buttons and filewindows.

I really do like the idea of burning supportet by TC. I do use TCBurner FS-Plugin but it has some limitatitions and as theres no further development it needs a replacement. And I think it is a very good idea to have an replacement made by the Author.

On the other hand I agree that there are more important things on the todo list.

And I agree that the burning feature probably should be implemented as an plugin for not to freeze TC when it crashes or is busy.

So in summary I support inbuilt burning feature of TC.

And now, the big question… When will Christian implement this new burning feature/plugin?

Gishler, any word on this? What have you decided? I guess it won't be in 7 final, or?

No, of course it won't be in TC7 final, since TC7 is already at RC (release candidate) stage. Only fixes and small additions are made at this stage. I will probably add it AFTER making the change to Unicode, which will be quite a large change by itself.
