Hello Alextp,

I have some problems with the new version (Freeware 2.0.0.0 10 JUL 2007) in lister mode [F3] (tested with WinNT4 / Win98SE).
Some keyboard keys don't work :
- with the SynPlus plugin, the cursor keys (up/down/right/left) and the space key don't work (and some other keys)
- same with the Imagine plugin
I am reverting back to previous version.

Thanks for your great work.

I guess that you can just unassign the hotkeys for Space/Up/Down in the Options dialog. The Space now means "Play/Pause in Multimedia mode" and Up/Down mean "Volume up / Volume down in Multimedia mode".

Use menus MNU

Post by *Clo »

2Alextp

:) Again…
…Configure, "General" tab, "..." button, uncheck "Auto-detect OEM codepage".
• Seems to work now, I keep an eye on, though.
…These cannot be translated in Delphi (they're constants. If I translate them, they will be in French in all languages).
- They are translated in TC (Delphi), sorry. Using a separate *.MNU text file does the trick.
Only strings for the menus is to make cheeseparing economies… and I dislike flies in my soup ! :P
Clo, the CHM translation is optional. If you don't like damn format, don't translate it…
- The format is not the point. I use CHM daily for the Tutos, the XnView Manuals and some others for years.
Because M$ has used the most inconvenient interface, all authors of softs claim that's "Standard".
There is no standard, CHM can be built at will in any other style… That's all.

I currently don't plan to switch menu from Delphi VCL to .MNU text files, sorry...
(That's a lot of work)

I don't understand your complain about CHM files. What's wrong with *my* CHM files?
But I won't use other help formats (.HLP or smthing), I'm sure.

Clever trick

• TC uses a clever trick for this… 8)

The interface style. Just get some years more, keep a 17" monitor, and you'll understand that I mean…
No need for another format, that is not the point, like I said already.

And what's wrong with interface style? :)
I don't understand. What is the "interface style" anyway? I need a screenshot of changed style.

Thanks.
Works for [Space], but Up/Down/Right/Left are not assigned, and therefore I cannot unassign them (to be clear, I mean the arrow keys that normally move the carret).

that CHM?

OK, looks very nice (and colorful).
But I cannot use such style in my help. Sorry. I didn't see such "no TOC" style in any application help. For example, I try these helps here: WinRAR, Real Player, IconLover, NetCaptor - all have TOC.

Imitation

Post by *Clo »

2Alextp

:) (re_sigh)
…all have TOC
• Because like I said above, the authors rush to imitate that M$ does…
- I said also that I've a workaround to get the two styles with the same folder.
- Delay in sight, but you'll see… :P

¤ Else : I got your e-mail, thanks.

Also, I hate flies in my soup !
Structured text menus files are obviously much more flexible and handy… Several plug-ins and tools use them.
Please, consider such a change when possible…

TIA

Do you suggest to remove TOC frame from left side of help?
I cannot do it - as I said above, TOC frame is everywhere.

My trick…

Post by *Clo »

2Alextp

:) Did you read that I wrote diagonally ?
…I cannot do it - as I said above, TOC frame is everywhere
… to bore the readers !

• So what ? The TOC frame can always be hidden from a button, as well in the M$ style interface as in my own CHMs,
it's planned in the *.hhp scripts (default).
- With my trick, you can keep the interface “as is”, then make a lot of exasperating “Hide” - “Reopen” - “Hide” …
and so on to browse the help if you like.
- You can too get a Synopsis page from wich all topics are accessible, and have a back link to that page.
Maybe with an image map in addition…
- The page is at the head of the TOC. Call it, and hide the dock once only,
then no need to “Hide” - “Reopen” - “Hide” continually.
- The topics are displayed on the whole full pages, that's pretty convenient.
• A big job, most certainly, but I've a good old tool for that which reduces the effort (you don't know it) …
Besides, I'm not a programmer, but HTML is the one thing I know, not too bad I guess -it's not programming really, though…

Not agree, I like TOC personally.

But OK, Clo, do the trick if you want in the French version (only in French!). But keep the old HTML names structure, as I link to them...
