switch to another app that can handle images
WHICH app did you use? Paste in a such manner copied image into WinWord)))
You'll see only the text. With 1.3.8 I could and can do that. Tested.

2petermad
That is what I tested
Now try WinWord, Excel.

I have very stable repoducablу bug. 1.3.8 pastes into the clipboard ONLY image data, as to 1.3.9 pastes
AS image SO AND the text - full path!
So just directly pls ask author to fix\revert back support of clipboard operations like it was done with 1.3.8

I don't have either of them, so I cannot do that.

I will write to him.

I successfully passed an entire image copied from a fullscreen view in the Imagine lister plugin into another image that I had opened in XnViewMP, into a Calc sheet (Excel) using LibreOffice, and into a empty Open Document using LibreOffice Write. Each time the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C/V was used.

Here's my experience regarding your claimed issue:

Open a $word.Document (in Microsoft 365).

Open an $image with FastStone Image Viewer: press Ctrl+C
Being in the $word.Document: hit Ctrl+V
result: an $image (as a picture) is being inserted.

Open an $image with Imagine 1.3.9 (standalone): press Ctrl+C
Being in $word.Document: hit Ctrl+V
result: an $image (as a picture) is being inserted.

View (F3) an $image with Imagine 1.3.9 as a plugin of TotalCommander 11.03rc1: press Ctrl+C
Being in $word.Document: hit Ctrl+V
result: an $image path is being inserted.

View (F3) an $image with Imagine 1.3.9 as a plugin of TotalCommander 11.03rc1: press Ctrl+C
Being in $word.Document: use the "Paste > Menu" button, then choose Paste options..", then opt for "Bitmap" or "Device Independent Bitmap"
result: an $image (as a picture) is being inserted. (which is as you want it to be)

Please, note that in Lister (see Lister menu > Edit > Copy as text Ctrl+C) the Ctrl+C shortcut by default is literally dedicated to copying a text.

Feel free to use:
InsideClipboard tool: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/inside_clipboard.html
and/or
Clipboard TC plugin: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51973
and/or
other similar tools
to understand if there are any differences in what Imagine 1.3.8 and Imagine 1.3.9 (as the standalones or under the TC) are sending to the clipboard upon hitting Ctrl+C.

Here is the latest answer I got form Sejin:
Sejin Chun wrote:Hello Peter,

The library (Ark Library) used in Imagine's Archive Plugin has now been converted to a commercial license, so it is difficult to use it any longer.
Therefore, I have no choice but to remove the Archive Plugin from my website soon.

The clipboard can hold various types of data at the same time. Recently, when you press Ctrl+C in Imagine, both text (file path) and image are included, but word processors (MS Word, etc.) seem to always try to import only text. Actually, it's not a problem with Imagine, but I fixed it back to the old way of only including image.

Best regards,
Sejin Chun

Now it's all clear, then let it be so.

It seems that the behavior of the Word depends on its version. For 2016 and 2019, with the same steps, only text is inserted.
And this is quite logical, considering that the WinWord is a word processor. It really has the ability to insert pictures
only as an addition through the special menu, as you indicated. And it's good that the author was still able to return to
the previous behavior when the Imagine as an "image viewer" copies exactly the pictures and only them.

Code: Select all

v1.4.0, Jan 22 2024
 - Fixed: Zoom error when disabling the 'Display image while loading' option
 - Fixed: Only text is pasted into other applications via the clipboard
 - Fixed: Command icon appears small in High-DPI environment
https://www.nyam.pe.kr/dev/imagine/#download

Along with traditional packages, there are also full ones become available.
The full packages now include the main application and all the plugins as well.

From my point of view, the latter is a pretty significant enhancement, since recently an update procedure (even when automated) became a little bit of torture for a user who preferred using the entire plugin set. Now it is a cup of tea operation :)

Notes.
- Archive Plugin (Archive.plg*, Ark*.dll) is no longer supplied.
- IPS plugin (IPS.plg*), which goes within the Plugin SDK archive is not included in the full package.

2nyam, petermad
Thank you.
