Hard-resets forced :-(
when i try to edit a file with the built in editor, the editor gets my device lock-up and sometimes even soft-reset won't help and only hard-reset can get me out of the mud.
it happened to me with v2.0 and still happening in v2.5 beta.
it wasn't always like that but i'm not sure when and why exactly this started.
i am using IPaq4150 WM2003 and totalcommander is installed on the SDcard.
i've notice that the problem doesn't occur with *.txt files but more with files with other extensions (html files edit also locks my device).
my device also locks for some reason when i switch tasks between total commander and pocket dos (shareware version).
any ideas why such thing can happen?

Sorry, no idea - I'm using a standard EDIT control which is built into Windows Mobile.
When and how do you get these errors? While typing? While scrolling? Or?

i just load the file, it opens up the editor, and when its suppose to start loading the file into the edit it locks without showing any text. i don't even get to the stage where i can type or scroll.
i tried setting the word wrap to true a couple hours ago (which was false until now) and maybe it solved it, i dunno, cuz no lockups occured ever since. does that make any sense? such things never happen to me with other apps using the same edit controls. i like this feature in TCmd and wanna use it, but i hate hard-resetting (i backup everything 3-4 times a day but it's still few minutes to restore).

Exactly what types of files do you edit? If it doesn't happen with TXT files, that's good for start. But if you try to edit files that contain binary data (images, EXEs, ect), the editor naturally needs far more time to display it because they contain characters that the control usually can't display.CDI wrote:i've notice that the problem doesn't occur with *.txt files but more with files with other extensions (html files edit also locks my device).

Does the file contain some extremely long lines? Maybe the PocketPC edit control cannot handle such long lines?
