Delete actions not logged

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Delete actions not logged

Post by *Raymond »

Neither file delete, nor folder delete.
Copy, move, create are logged ok though.
Am I the only one?

Well, it works fine here!

Maybe you by accident have removed the checkmark for monitoring deletion in the configuration of the Log file?

Options…

:) Hello !

• Did you tick all in the section Operation Status Options >> Log file ?
- Especially [x] Log successful operations ? ;)

• Otherwise, nothing is logged… Just "Start" and "Close" the programme.

 Kind regards,
Claude

Yes, all of them are checked.
I tried both "del" and "shift+del" with no luck.

pls start TC v7pb1 with a new Ini and try it again as it works here 100% to log deletion.

Do you use the Explorer delete method? Unfortunately it's not possible to log it, only internal deletions. Reason: Explorer deletes the files by itself, and does not report back what files have been deleted and what files haven't.

Yes, it's right the reason. Thank you for the answer.
The reason why I choose Explorer delete method is that TC itself tell me it's "faster".

Explorer has its own "log". Just press "Edit" in a Windows Explorer window after you have deleted something in TC with Explorer deletion method. You will not only see what you have deleted but will also be offered a chance to undo it, if this is what your intention is.

Maybe there also is a chance to extract this info from Explorer somehow, somewhere, maybe in registry, by API call or Explorer hacking, who knows? ;)

Also it's true that Explorer deletion method is faster. It is MUCH faster because TC deletion method deletes files one by one to process descript.ions while Explorer simply blows away the directory.

Stange, I dont get anything in my Explorer Edit menu, not even if I choose Delete from the context menu from within TC. What could be the reason?

Looks I got confused by the right click undo entry in recycle bin and parallel usage of file managers. You only have the entry in Explorer edit menu when you have deleted in Explorer (clones).

So, sorry for talking bullshit, my head is going to explode soon. ;)
