Keyboard focus on drive selection combo or file panel?

When I invoke the drive selection list with Alt-F1/F2, the combo box appears. I can select with Up and Down and End and so on, but I accidentally pressed Shift-End and much to my surprise all files were selected in the panel as if the keyboard focus were on the file panel. This is an unwanted side effect. Also Shift-Up/Down does funny things

Currently it's not planned to disable all hotkeys while in other parts of the main window, sorry.
