TC701 - Bug while copying

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC701 - Bug while copying

Post by *apvb »

Tried to copy from network directory to SFTP directory. Copying a new directory (or single file) worked well, but when trying to copy an existing directory, got a pop up with the following message:
Access violation at address 016B8D64. Read of address 6D6F682F.
Continue execution?
if Yes, programs hangs and the only way to close is trough the Task Manager (where it shows the program running)
If No, the TC exists.
If it is worth, in Configuration-Copy/Delete I also use big file copy mode, 10240 k on same disk and 64k on different disks

I am playing a bit on this subject, and I can copy an existing directory onto the SFTP panel if it is small. I pressed the space bar on a large directory, as to get its size, and got another error message:
Access violation at address 013E1AF7. Read of address 00000014.
In this case, pressing continue yes did not hang TC.

Sounds like a bad filesystem on harddisk...

I had similar failures with bad sectors and wrong references.
You may run a "Check Disk" just to be sure.

I thought I had it solved, but not so.
I am trying to copy a few files from a NAS to a new Linux box from a computer with w2k using TC v7.01 and the sftp plugin v 1.2.58.1
The directory in question has some 200 MB of files in many subdirectories.
I wanted to refresh it so I directly copied the directory and selected 'Overwrite all older', with the mentioned results.
To be sure it was not a problem of computers, I tried it in three, two Ubuntu Linux:
7.04 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 19:00:28 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux
6.10 2.6.17-11-server #2 SMP Fri May 18 23:40:13 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
and one using the University server
SunOS 5.8 Generic_117350-46 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880

The interesting thing is it does it only when there is a directory or directory and files on the receiving end. If you remove the directory and contents it copies all w/o problem.

I seems it is the sftp plugin as the built in ftp works well (but I cannot stop the transfer).

Good night gentlemen, and thanks for all and for the great TC program.

I just checked to see if I had the latest version of sftp and yes, I am using wfx_sftp_1_2_58_1, upgraded putty to version 0.60, but still gives an error message (Access violation at address 0202CCA6. Read of address 00000000).

I can use SSH Secure Shell for Workstations v 3.2.9 to copy the same directories under the same conditions, w/o problems.1
