Problems with Windows Vista Group Policy storage location

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Problems with Windows Vista Group Policy storage location

Post by *nekij23 »

The problem is Total Commander does not show the Group Policy storage location (that is X:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy) in Windows Vista (x86 or x64).

When I'm trying to access Group Policy folder from Windows Explorer, I'm able to see two folders--"Machine" and "User", namely. This folder is also shown as hidden.

However, when I'm trying to access Group Policy folder from Total Commander, I'm able to see these folders. Furthermore, folder properties from Total Commander show that this folder is not hidden.

This seems to be a virtual folder. TC just shows what is really there (on disk), not the virtual fake folders created e.g. by desktop.ini files in directories.
