Wish: Confirm question on Exit of TC

Is it possible to configure TC to ask you to confirm if you try to close it ? I sometimes close TC by accident and it's really annoying.

No, currently not

Yes, that would be a nice addition compared to the current workaround of remapping ALT+F4 to doing something else i.e. a refresh in the panel. Perhaps a cm_ExitWithConfirmation could be added to the available commands list.
Other way---

Hello !
• You can also close TC accidentally via
Alt+X (when
X isn't used as a hotkey of the menu-bar…).
- On one hand, it's certainly annoying to close when unwanted,
- On the other hand, it's as so annoying to get a message every time you need to close really.
- I had some softs having such a confirmation, it's quite exasperating.
• Hence, this could be proposed as an
option only (not for the next 7.5) and the thread could be moved to
Suggestions if all posters think it's needed…

Hi Claude.

That's why i proposed:

so anyone interested, can manually redefine ALT+X and ALT+F4.

Sure, why not? A cm_ExitWithConfirmation seems like a pretty simple task which could perhaps be included in TC 7.5.

Again…
…A cm_ExitWithConfirmation seems like a pretty simple task which could perhaps be included in TC 7.5.
• Yes, probably, but it needs a
translation…
- I checked among the existing strings, there are many “
Close” or so, but none is suitable for such a box.
- The only workaround I see could be to choose one and modify a bit as :
Close (?) or in my style
Close¦?, that all translators could add easily.
• Well, I move the topic, I guess it'll be better located in the
Suggestions.

Support for an "Close" option !
IMHO there is no need to close TC anyway
I would rather prefer an option to
send it to tray instead of closing it.
You have to explicit use the context menu at try to finally close TC.
This is already an option at some other programs I use ...

I don't understand why some of you are blabbering endlessly and try to find excuses for why this feature is missing.
It's simple. Add a tick option to "Options -> Misc -> Get confirmation before" called something like "Ask before closing". And maybe another one for "Minimize to tray". Even my cat has seen those two a hundred times in a hundred Windows applications.
I don't se absolutely ANY drawbacks if that option was present so there's little point in fantasising too much about it. You will leave it unticked and I will have it ticked. Doesn't get any easier that that. And we'll all live happier lives.

It's simple.
It's not that simple as anyone can think.
TC7.50 will be released for public beta soon. The delay depends on
translators work. Additional features with new strings means longer waiting time but please remember: 7.5 is already late.
In theory: anyone can translate that. In practice: only trusted people can do so but they sometimes can't give it right away. "Simple strings" are not only those visible in Options but in menus and help files too. In other hand, making translation is easy task but making
good one is an art sometimes.
Is it possible soon…

Hello !
•
Fenix_productions sums up the issue alright above, I agree.
• Our chattering here is not hair splitting, the goal is only to see whether the option could be added soon
or not and how, according to the current 7.5 beta-test state.
- FYI : All posters here are beta-testers
• Anyway, every user is free to express his¦her own opinion about the topic

Basically, what you're suggesting is the "straight-forward" way. I agree that would be a pretty good solution (if not the best), however in addition to what fenix_productions and Clo have said, this issue has been discussed in the past and the result was a workaround (to redefine ALT+F4) in order to have a quick solution to this issue.
FYI, behind TC is not a company like MS. It's basically a one-man-show (or rather a-couple-of-men-show). As you can imagine, there are thousands of elegant ideas like this one but it's impossible for one man to implement them all in a logical amount of time. This is one of the reasons there are no straight-forward solutions like the one you propose for some things in TC. In the end, it's better to have a fast solution to a problem (even if it seems like a workaround) than an idea added to a to-do list which may be implemented in the next 5 years. After all, some of these "workarounds" turn out to be more flexible and powerful than a "straight-forward" way...

I absolutely agree with perplexer on this point.
This is a really trivial enhancement. You simply implement it and that's it.
The need to translate a few message strings for various languages is no reason not to implement the functionality. Start with the genuine TC language, i.e. English.
As long as T.C. v7.x is in private or later on in public beta stage the translators will have time enough to translate the few strings which need to be translated.
Just my 2 cents.

No, but its a reason to delay it. By now, TC7.5 has been feature-frozen which means that no new features or translations will be added to it, so this request will have to be implemented in a later version. There's a good chance it will be lost in a list on thousands of such trivial enhancements which may or may not be implemented at a later point...

Hi, wanderer.
As T.C. seems to have lived for 16 years now without the "confirm exit" feature, it may make not too much of a difference whether it will be implemented in T.C. 7.50 or T.C. 7.51 or T.C. 7.6.
There's a good chance it will be lost in a list on thousands of such trivial enhancements which may or may not be implemented at a later point...
Shall we conclude that no further requests should be posted until this list has been emptied one fine day?
