Search in Lister check text only down from cursor and cannot search in whole file, if file was scrolled.
1. Open any big text file.
2. Scroll it to the middle.
3. Press Crtl+F
4. Try to find any string in this file, which present only in text above current screen.
5. Lister will say: "Not found".
Why Lister cannot seek text in whole file without reference to currect scroll (for ex., like MS Word)?
Tick the box

Hello !
• On the Search dialogue, just tick the box
[×] Search backwards and it works.
- You must do it prior.

2Clo,
A "Wrap at the end of file" would actually be a better option to have.
Search in a loop ?

Most certainly, Bob … But I'm not sure that “Search as a loop” might be set by default (?).
- What do you think ?

2Clo,
Yes, to have it set as default would be the only way to go. EditPlus has that feature and I use it constantly.
No bug but lacuna

[mod]Thread moved to “TC7.5 Suggestions” since there is no bug, but the feature is missing…

I would think,
"Foobar not found! Continue search from Beginning?"
[OK] [Cancel]
I dont think it even needs to be an option, instead of just popping up with Not found, give the option to research from beginning - problem solved.

Lister is not editor, it's only viewer. Why search in it is dependent from cursor position?
Why I must before each search in text file press Ctrl+Home for putting invisible cursor to the beginig of file? It's uncomfortable.
Imho, search in loop is useful, than confirmation or current behavour.

The cursor isn't invisible. At least it doesn't have to be:
Wincmd.ini, Helpfile: Ini File Settings
[Lister]
Caret=1 Show caret (text cursor), e.g. to select text with the keyboard.
And I doubt many would agree that search should
automatically start from the top every time you search, that would be incredibly annoying.

Is it a bit easier to press F6 in lister instead of modifying wincmd.ini?

Hehehe, I scrolled right past that in the Lister Options menu -- when I clicked on "Configure" and couldn't see it in the "Configure Lister" menu.

Support.
This way F3 wouldn't loop through the file without notifying the user that searching started over at the beginning.

Ok. For example, why not from current position to end and then from top to current position? Why search cannot automaticaly seek text in
whole file if text was scrolled?

Because it is polite.
Hey there Balderstrom Sir, I couldn't find anything. I tried very hard. Do you wish me to continue from the beginning?
No, that's ok FindTool, that would be a waste of time...there was a reason I made you start in the middle and didn't tell you to search backwards, but thank you anyways.
