User Drive - Change Mapping?

Post by *unkis17 »

I recently upgraded to Win7 and changed my install so that C:\Users is now junctioned over to X:\Users (separate HD). All is working correctly (found a tutorial on how to link this correctly).

My question is there any way that when I hit the drive button X to go to the X:\Users\Unkis\ Dir rather then the X:\ ?

Thanks,

Unkis

You could do that with another drive letter -- but I dont believe it will work with "X:". The only way to do it that I know of would be SUBST.EXE or VSubst.exe (Associates a path with a drive letter.)

If you did that (if the system even allowed you to), then all attempts to go to C:\Users would go to X:\Users, which would go to something like: "X:\Users\Unkis\X:\Users"

Though you should have no trouble subst'ing an unused drive letter to X:\Users\Unkis.

Hum, a better way should have been to use the "subst" command, that allow you to affet a driver letter to a drive+path.

Example, enter in a command line :

Code: Select all

subst k: c:\windows
and a "k:" drive will be created, directly linked "in" c:\windows drive-folder.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will give the Sust command a try.
