Please define a useful application title

Hello
We are evaluating File Manager Tools and Total Commander is on the list of the last 4 tools.
The biggest problem - it's a killer problem - with Total Commander is, that it's application title does not reflect it's state, e.g. the actual selected directory.
We have seen some 3rd party software hacks as workarounds, but those scripting tools are not allowed in our big environement - and these 'solutions' are very ugly, anyway.
Without such a feature, we can not use Total Commander in our projects, because we always have between 8 and 15 open instances, so that we can switch very fast between projects. But if the application title does not reflect it's directory, then there is no fast switching at all...
Maybe you can implement this feature as a hidden feature, which can be activated in the ini file. (Our deployment is very rigorous, therefore we always define a complete software package with predefined and readonly ini files / reg settings.)
Thanks for checking this very useful and certainly easy to implement feature.
Best Regards, Tim

Something bothering me:
why do you have 8 and 15 instances opened?
For me it looks like your work-flow is bad. There are: tabs, Directory hotlist, Start menu or even toolbar buttons which can make it easier to mange many projects (instead of keeping so many TCs).

Third party "hacks" for TC's TitleBar aren't
that ugly.
-- Well a little bit, after a couple exceptions are made.
-- Well perhaps... OP is right,
it's kinda ugly, but I think this is the final Edit.

I suggest (and I'm using)
[face=Courier]opentabs tabfile.tab[/face]
and
[face=Courier]appendtabs tabfile.tab[/face]
to switch between multiple projects within a single instance of TC.

I'ts funny that you can rate our workflow...
Our Team is working - depending on the experience - parallel on 8...15 projects which means, that our team is doing parallel work. And because most jobs for Totalcommander needs some time, it's not really a problem to handle thos parallel jobs.
We already use Tabs, Directory Hotlists, ... but thats really not the point. We would like to let Totalcommander do some work in parallel and for that we need parallel runnuing Totalcommander sessions.
We think in 2010 this isn't a strange use case, but it's really strange that it seems that there is a big resistance about an easy, simple + useful feature.!?
Best Regards, tom

Thanks, ND, for this tipp, but of course we already use Tabs, and all the other nice Totalcommander features.
But your tip works only, if we start a job for Totalcommander, wait for the end, save the session, load another, start a job, wait for the end, save ...
It does not work if we use the Windows nice Multitasking feature, where different applications are working parallel. We can not wait for each job's end and therefore we have those
8..15 parallel working Totalcommander instances.
Kind regards, Tim

agreed,
title bar minimized/background with the display TC-Q:\My\Program would be useful here also. Maybe even so far as profiles, if that would be the correct term, click on the profile and TC opens with preset panes/tabs/what-have-you, and titled TC-Project J. Could this address the deire for more panes open at a time within TC? I probably don't understand that question/suggestion, but 4 ready made instances of TC arranged however allows drag&drop at the least.
analogy - if browsers had only their title instead of the site when minimized, would be useless.
-seems- a relatively easy addition, but I'm no programmer. hell, I'm barely literate.

After a while I think that new INI value TCTitle would be very useful but only if it could support some parameters like %P%N.

if it could support some parameters like %P%N
Or content plugin fields like:
[=tc.path]
BTW: The same would be very useful for
lister window too.
File type associated custom fields in Lister title (similar to Help text: "User-defined" +"Custom fields by file type"):
>Music ::
[=anytag.Artist] - [=anytag.Title]
