New board function against Chinese spam

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

Because of the frequent spam from China, I have now written some code which refuses any posts which contain more than a certain number of Chinese characters. Since regular posts must be in English or one of the other official board languages, this should be no problem.

Posting single file names in Chinese like 中国.txt (e.g. for bug reports) will not be blocked. Users who post too many Chinese characters will get an error dialog, but will not be banned automatically.

Looks like the Borg adapted quickly and switched to Cyrillic. :(

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Well, I could forbid Cyrillic too, what do you think? It would just be small change to the regular expressions...

Please take into account that Russian spam messages are often written in different encodings. Can regular expressions recognise all of them?

I haven't checked that yet - for Chinese, I always get codes in the form #$1234; which I convert to UTF-8 and then apply the regular expressions.
