Asus Tablet

Post by *pdlb »

Just bought a new Asus Tablet and wondered if it is possible to access this under W7 TC so I can copy files across from my PC via the Asus USB cable supplied ?

Love dual-pane TC !

Going back to the old drag-n-drop in W7 Explorer seems so retrograde.

Thanks.

You should look around in this section http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewforum.php?f=22

Hi petermad - thanks for your quick reply but I know NIL re Android and am wanting to continue using my favourite W7 program ie TC.

As Windows Explorer provides [crude] access to the Tablet, I hope that TC windows, will provide dual-pane access via USB cable.

Is this possible ?

I don't know, but if it does then you got to have a TC client or server on the tablet, and that is where TC for Android comes in - you install that on your Asus tablet in order to have TC on the tablet.

But I cannot say whether the USB cable connection would work between a table and a PC the same way it does from one PC to another - see: http://ghisler.com/efaqusb.htm and http://ghisler.com/cables/index.htm - there probably isn't any driver available for the Asus tablet.

A question: If you connect your tablet to your PC via the USB-cable, does the tablet then turn up in Explorer as a drive or device?

The tablet shows up in W7 Explorer under Devices as Transformer 101.

Click on this and Device Storage appears.

I can then Drag & Drop from TC [in reduced screen size].

Are you advising that TC cannot display "Devices" , only Drives ?

That depends on whether Windows "presents" the device to other programs. But try and click Commands -> Open Desktop Folder -> and then click on Computer and see if it is on the list.

BTW how do you see devices in Explorer? I have to go through Control Panel -> "Devices and Printers" to see devices.

Hi petermad - you are GREAT.

I just knew that anything Explorer could do, TC can do better !

BTW-FYI - Start, Computer, and Transformer TF101 appears at the bottom in both panes. Click on this icon for Device Storage. Click again to Open the Storage.

Thanks again for your assistance. PeterB. :D
