Crash when reading .3gp file by internal lister

Post by *MrCricket »

Hi,

I guess the problem is related to buggy codecs installed on my machine(win7_32b), but still I think the app shouldn't crash.

Fresh installation of version 7.57 crashes when reading local file c:\2\2012_01_15_17-12-49_.3gp by internal lister, then process werfault.exe starts with following window:

I tried to investigate the problem with sysinternal's procmon: look at 2:48:26.4241189:

request QueryAllInformationFile on file C:\2\2012_01_15_17-12-49_.3gp failed with BUFFER OVERFLOW - I hope this will help you.

You can find all logs here (rar archive, pass "wincmd"):

Code: Select all

-removed-
BTW, same results for 7.56a

So your Systemcodecs are screwed up - what has that to do with TC?
Repair your Windows then....

Sir_SiLvA, maybe you're right, but explorer opens that file w/o problems and it is successfully played in MediaPlayerClassic..

Total Commander uses Video for Windows codecs, while Media Player uses the newer DirectX output. Try using a video plugin which uses the Media Player interface, e.g. MMedia:

Christian, it crashes with mmedia plugin too.

I am not really suffer from this crash - just thought my scenario with bad codecs is an "edge" case which will help to make TC better.

Thank you for your reply.

Too bad - try some other plugin. If it doesn't help either, it's definitely the codec. If the codec creates floating point exceptions, they will be ignored by Explorer, but not by Total Commander.
