First I will apologise if this is off topic for a TC Forum but it is something I AM doing from TC.
I bought a new 3Tb Seagate external drive and copying (a) file(s?) does something funny.
The copy starts at a phenomenal speed, like 376,000kbytes/s until 98% or 99% and then sits there for a minute or two before finishing and starting the next file which then does the same thing.
Why?

Hi, this is not a TC specific behavior. You can see this also with the Explorer.
When you copy a big file from your HDD to an external drive, your HDD is usually several times faster than the other one. That's why Windows loads that file from your HDD into memory (that is the fast part) and then writes it into the external drive (the very slow part), so you can use your HDD for other things during this operation. Depending on the size of the file, size of your memory and speed of your drives, this can happen more than once per operation (however it is most visible near its start and end).
If you don't like it, try disabling cache for the external drive.
