Where is the "Offline file folder" in TC

Post by *Jesahl »

My office pc runs win7 and uses standard syncronication, which means that "My Document" folder on the companys server is syncronized to the local "Offline File Folder/My Document".

When I am off line, "My Document" shows the content of this offline folder.

I can find the "My Document" in Windows Explorer but where is it in TC?
And I can not find the "offline folder" seems to be a hidden file or?

Hello, Jesahl.

Isn't the folder which was called "My documents" not simply named "Documents" on Windows 7?
The default location on a standalone machine will be C:\users\Jesahl\Documents, provided your Windows account name is Jesahl.
Yet, in particular on company machines, this default location is frequently redirected to a different location.

Redirected or not, there is more than one way to go to the "(my) Documents" folder in Total Commander:
  • Breadcrumb bar > Jesahl > Documents
  • cd %$PERSONAL% entered in the T.C. commandline or assigned to a button as its command or put in the directory hotlist (<ctrl>d)
Cannot give a valid statement on the offline folders at the moment. This machine here is standalone. Never bothered to check whether there are any offline folders or not on this machine. Will have to have a look at the company machine.

Kind regards,
Karl

You can use cd ::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103} to bring you to the virtual folder //Documents - that wil be the same place as karlchen's suggestion: Breadcrumb bar > Jesahl > Documents

cd %$PERSONAL% brings you to the physical folder that holds the personal part of //Documents

cd ::{BD7A2E7B-21CB-41b2-A086-B309680C6B7E} should bring you to the //Offlinefiles folder

cd ::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103} and cd ::{BD7A2E7B-21CB-41b2-A086-B309680C6B7E} has to be used in the button bar or in an external command (em_command) to work - they do not work directly from the command line.

Breadcrumb bar > Jesahl > Documents is %$PERSONAL%
No - karlchen means the virtual folder you get to by clicking the triangle in the left side of the breadcrumb bar. %$PERSONAL% points to a real folder.

::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103} is Windows 7 Library
No - it also works under Windows XP - hence not a library.
