How to select files/folders with mouse

Post by *platanos »

Hello, I'm new to Total Commander. In Windows I can select with mouse left click several folders/files with a blue square.

However in Total Commander left mouse movement is blocked, I can't move the mouse (a forbidden signal appears).

I wonder if it is possible.

Thank you :o

In Total Commander you can use the right mouse button to select folders or files. Just hold the right mouse button and drag up or down to select files. You can stop and right click on single folders or files. They will turn red and that means that they are selected and ready for the operation that you want to perform with the selected items.

Also you can use left click to select stuff, but you need to hold the Ctrl button in order to work. However holding right click and dragging or right clicking on individual items is much faster!

If you really like standard Windows selection mode, just go to Configuration->Options->Operation->Mouse selection mode and change it there.

Thanks, that doesn't do what I'm talking about. I want to post a screenshot but I can't till tomorrow because I just registered.

In Windows explorer when you press and hold left click a blue area like a square appears, and everything inside it is autoselected.

Hello, platanos.

Drawing a (blue) rectangle around the folders / files which you want to select does not work in T.C.

You can select using the keyboard by pressing <shift><cursor down> or <shift><cursor up> e.g.

You can select using the mouse by clicking on the first item which you want to select once, then going down to the last item which you want to select and pressing <shift> while clicking the mouse again.

In case the default Total Commander mouse selection mode is active, clicking means right-clicking.
In case the mouse selection mode has been re-configured to be the standard Windows mode, clicking means left-clicking.

Kind regards,
Karl
